Home Ministry warns of releasing excess water from Kulekhani Dam

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has issued a warning to the general public that the Kulekhani Dam in Indrasarowar Rural Municipality, Makwanpur is likely to be filled in a few hours and the gates of the dam may have to be opened to ensure the safety of the dam.

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has issued a warning to the general public that the Kulekhani Dam in Indrasarowar Rural Municipality, Makwanpur is likely to be filled in a few hours and the gates of the dam may have to be opened to ensure the safety of the dam.

According to the alert issued by the ministry, the residents living in the lower river basin areas around Kulekhani river as well as frontline workers including security personnel and volunteers have been requested to be on high alert.


The ministry has also directed the disaster management committees of the local bodies in the area to prepare safe spots for evacuating people if needed. News media have been  requested to communicate this advance notification with priority.
