India-constructed dam draws flak

LAHAN, Feb. 22: Locals of Aurahi Village Development Committee (VDC) in the southern belt of Siraha have protested the Indian government´s move of constructing dam in the area. [break]



Villagers came up with protest saying that the dam construction will inundate five VDCs there.



Two thousand bighas of land of Aurahi, Itatar, Sanhaithar, Lagadi, Gadiyali and Lagadigadhe VDC of the district will be waterlogged and people there will be rendered displaced after the construction of dam, said villagers.
