India, China FM to attend donors’ conference

KATHMANDU, June 22: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj have confirmed their participation in the International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction being held in Kathmandu on June 25.



According to Foreign Ministry spokersperson Tara Prasad Adhikari, they are scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on June 24 and return home on the next day.

Officials at the Ministry of Finance said former US President Jimmy Carter, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio and British actress Joanna Lumley have also confirmed their participation in the conference.


Delegates from various countries have already started landing in Kathmandu. On Monday itself, UN Assistant Secretary General and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Asia Pacific Regional Director Haoliang Xu arrived in Kathmandu on a four-day visit to take part in the International Donors' Conference to support Nepal's post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
