KATHMANDU, May 24: The Nepal Student Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress (NC), staged a sit-in protest at the party’s central office in Kathmandu on Sunday, pressing for internal unity and timely organizational reforms.
The protesting activists said the symbolic demonstration was aimed at urging party leadership to maintain unity within the NC, announce the date for the NSU’s 12th general convention, and activate the student organization.

Demonstrators placed placards at various sections of the party office with slogans such as “Party unity first, ego later” and “Ensure the 12th convention”, drawing attention to what they described as prolonged organizational stagnation.
Student leaders participating in the protest said that strengthening unity within the party should begin with reforming and energizing its student wing. They stressed that leadership must rise above factional interests and take concrete steps to unify both the organization and the party.
They also argued that keeping the NSU inactive for a long period was unacceptable and called for timely completion of its general convention to ensure greater youth participation in decision-making roles.
