KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Irritated by the government's lackluster response to mitigate air pollution which is at an alarming level in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal Student Union (NSU) not only organized a sit-in in front of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City office but also handed over a bag of dust collected from the streets of the capital to Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi as part of their symbolic protest.

Handing over the dust to the deputy mayor, members of the student union urged KMC officials to take necessary steps to control air pollution in the valley. According to one of the union leaders, Balaram Dhakal, the union took to protests after KMC didn't do enough to control air pollution in the valley.
The union has said that this is the first step of the protest and they will continue to protest until their demands are met.
