KATHMANDU, Aug 1: A group of people were seen protesting symbolically at Basantapur Durbar Square in front of Kal Bhairav on Saturday afternoon.

The protestors demanded that Nepali language be used on the embossed number plates, instead of the English language.

According to the protestors, the government of Nepal has wrongly used the English language, discouraging the use of the Nepali language. The protest was staged in the Basantapur Durbar Area in a bid to promote and encourage the use of the Nepali language at national and international levels.

What does the embossed number plate mean?

An embossed number plate is a high security number plate which is connected to the GPS System of a vehicle. The use of embossed number plates helps to locate vehicles.
