KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Senior leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel reached Basantapur area to meet the campaigners including Iih earlier on Sunday afternoon.

Iih and other youths spearheading “Enough is Enough” campaign have been staging a hunger strike for the last 16 days demanding reforms in the health sector from the side of the government including proper management of quarantines and expanding the scope of the PCR tests in diagnosing novel coronavirus disease.

During his visit, leader Poudel wished for their good health. He said that the government’s indifference towards the youth voices is an example of its negligence on the part of controlling the pandemic in the country.

On the occasion, leader Poudel stressed on the need for a joint struggle against corruption which, according to him, is the root cause of all the problems prevailing in the country.

Earlier on Saturday, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had also held a meeting with the campaigners.

Accusing the Ministry of Health and Population of failing to implement its commitment made with them, the ‘Enough is Enough’ campaigners started Satyagraha (relay hunger strike) from July 18 at the Basantapur Durbar Square premises.

Following a 12-point agreement with the government, Pukar Bam and ‘Iih’ of the campaign had broken their first 12-day hunger strike earlier on July 7.
