MUSTANG, Feb 9: Illegal goods brought into Nepal through the Korala border point in Upper Mustang have been seized.
A joint patrol team comprising the Mustang Customs Office at Nhechu in Chhoser, Lomanthang–4, the Armed Police Force Nepal (BOP), and the Area Police Office, Chhoser, confiscated illegal goods worth Rs 117,000.

The seizure was carried out by a team led by Non-Gazetted First Class Officer Bhoj Raj Adhikari of the Mustang Customs Office at Nhechung, Lomanthang. According to District Police Office information officer and Police Inspector Santosh Basyal, the seized goods have been handed over to the Mustang Customs Office at Nhechung for further action.
Earlier, on January 11, security personnel seized illegal electronic cigarettes (vapes) worth Rs 22.4 million during an inspection of a cargo container held at the Korala border point. The confiscated items were handed over to the Mustang Customs Office.
Similarly, on January 4, 2025, illegal electronic cigarettes worth Rs 68.1 million were seized while being secretly transported toward Jomsom via the Korala border.
Security agencies have been conducting regular border patrols in the area, citing the risk of smuggling, poaching, and other illegal activities, particularly during the winter season.
