KATHMANDU, Feb 18: On Saturday (February 16, 2019), Nepal hosted the pre-qualifier for Mr Olympia at the Nepal Academy Hall. The program was organized by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) which was the first of its kind in Nepal.
Mr Olympia is the top bodybuilding championships at the international level organized by IFBB which was founded by brothers Joe and Ben Weider in 1946 in Montreal, Canada.
20 bodybuilders from eight countries participated in during the event.

Nepal bought four pro cards to conduct the event. Saurabti Sing of India won in the men's category whereas Amir Hossein Sadatnia of Iran bagged classic physique title. Likewise, Binita Rai of Nepal topped women’s physique category whereas overall men's bodybuilding winner was Jamie Do Rigo of United Arab Emirates. The winners of each of the four categories will get chances to participate in Mr Olympia to be held in Los Vegas in September this year.
According to the organizer, this kind of event in Nepal will open Nepali bodybuilders to compete in the biggest bodybuilding competition every year. Mahesh Maharjan has already proved that Nepalis can win an international title.
