KATHMANDU, June 3: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah has assured the locals to make Sisdole of Nuwakot odor-free within a week.
After hearing the complaints of locals, Shah monitored the landfill site along with Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on Friday morning. He said that he would put an end to the stench within a week by adding chemicals and that he has also held necessary discussions with the experts for that.

Mayor Shah also expressed his commitment to manage the garbage by starting to remove both manure and gas within three months. “Chemicals will be arranged so that there will be no odor within a week,” he said. “We looked into all the reports of Banchare Dada. There will be separation of decomposable and non-compostable waste. This is to extract manure and gas. KMC will work to spread public awareness to separate the garbage accordingly.”
Similarly, Shah also urged the locals not to obstruct the waste management for the time being. The locals, on the other hand, said that they would not allow the dumping of garbage in the landfill until their demands were addressed.
