KATHMANDU, May 23: Bibeksheel Sajha Party has maintained that dissolving parliament and announcing midterm elections when the country is severely hit by the second wave of COVID-19 is ‘inhuman cruelty’.

Dissolving the House of Representatives (HoR), President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Oli have murdered the constitution and democracy and continued their totalitarian rule, reads a press statement issued by the party.

The party also expressed its belief that the Supreme Court will once again pass a verdict in favor of democracy and reinstate the dissolved parliament.

“It is an inhuman cruelty to dissolve parliament and announce midterm elections while people are dying due to the lack of treatment, medical supplies and vaccines against COVID-19. The government’s first priority should be vaccines in this hour,” further reads the statement.

The party also accused the leaders of opposition parties for political chaos in the country. “Why could the opposition parties not file a no-confidence motion against PM Oli?”

Likewise, the party urged one and all to stand together against the HoR dissolution and unconstitutional moves of the government.
