HoR session: MPs raise issues from problems facing students in medical college to road accidents

In the 'urgent hour' of the House of Representatives (HoR)'s meeting today, lawmakers have raised several issues ranging from the problems faced by students in a medical college in Birgunj to the road accident cases.

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: In the 'urgent hour' of the House of Representatives (HoR)'s meeting today, lawmakers have raised several issues ranging from the problems faced by students in a medical college in Birgunj to the road accident cases. 



On the occasion, lawmaker Rahbar Ansari demanded liberating students from the problem of fake doctors and high fees at the medical college in Birgunj. 


Likewise, lawmaker Kshitij Thebe drew attention to the need to remove the buffer zone area since daily life of residents there is filled with struggles. 


Lawmaker Rabin Mahato requested free treatment and compensation for a family after a child in Sarlahi was seriously injured by an electric wire.

Member of Parliament (MP) Dhanendra Karki urged caution to reduce the increasing number of road accidents recently. 


At the beginning of the meeting, MP Dhurbaraj Rai, requested that the negative practices of this Session should not be repeated next time and that the voices of the opposition should be heard.


MPs draw attention of government towards problems facing farmers


Meanwhile, speaking during the 'zero hour' in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, MPs called attention to the government that farmers need timely fertilizer, irrigation, and fair prices for their produce. 


In the meeting, they brought up issues like farmers suffering from marauding wild elephants in Jhapa, farmers in Rajbiraj being misbehaved, and that even though the price of rice has been set, government warehouses have not started buying hybrid rice from farmers.


During the 'zero hour' session, the parliamentarians demanded that while making any plan, timeframes, population density, and geography should be considered, the compulsion for girls to leave school due to menstrual pain should end, and ways to increase the national treasury should be found.


Issues as deputing a chief administrative officer to Chainpur Municipality in Sankhuwasabha as soon as possible, making the procurement system transparent, strictly implementing laws made for animal welfare, starting the production of methane gas in Surkhet, and addressing the suffering of citizens affected by disasters were also raised in the meeting.


During the zero hour of the meeting, MPs Dr. Achyut Lamichhane, Anushka Shrestha, Apsana Banu, Amrita BK, Aravinda Sah, Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Aren Rai, Asha Jha, Ashika Tamang, Indira Ranamagar, Eashuda Kumari Baral, Amrita Thakur, Kanhaiya Baniya, Kamal Subedi, Karishma Katharia, Kamini Kumari, Kabindra Burlakoti, Kulbhakta Shakya, and Kushum Maharjan shared their respective views.


Similarly, MPs Kripa Maharjan, Kriparam Rana, Krishnahari Budhathoki, KP Khanal, Krantishikha Dhital, Khadak Bahadur Budha, Khima BK, Khushbu Oli, Khemraj Koirala, Gajala Samim Mikrani, Ganesh Karki, Ganesh Dhimal, Ganesh Paudyal, Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma, Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Guru Praasad Baral, Govinda Panthi, Ganga Chhantyal, Gangadevi Shrestha, Ganga Lakshmi Awal, and Chandan Kumar Singh drew the government's attention to various issues.
