HoR Meeting put off for 18 days

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been put off for 18 days amid continuing protests by the lawmakers belonging to the main opposition party, CPN-UML.


During the HoR meeting on Thursday, Speaker Agni Sapkota read out a letter received from the Office of President about the resignation of Minister Gajendra Hamal. Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dilendra Prasad Badu presented an annual report of the National Dalit Commission on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Speaker Sapkota also informed parliament about the leave of absence of lawmakers including Jhala Nath Khanal, Karma Ghale and Pradip Giri due to illness for endorsement by parliament. These lawmakers are absent in 13 consecutive meetings of the HoR.


The UML lawmakers picketed the well of the lower house shortly after Speaker Sapkota commenced the meeting proceedings. They have announced that the protests will continue until the lawmakers recommended for dismissal by the party are present in parliament.
