Home stay workshop begins

KATHMANDU, March 29: Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma inaugurated the ´First Home Stay National Workshop´ at Kapal in the Capital Tuesday.



Around 160 home stay operators and tourism experts are participating in the function organised to discuss infrastructure development, human resources and management to promote home stay. The Ministry of Tourism, Taragau Development Committee and Nepal Tourism Board are jointly organising the workshop.[break]



Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bishwokarma said since tourism is the main basis of Nepal´s economic progress the government will prioritise home stay concept for tourism promotion.



Economic development will take off in the country only after the institutionalisation of the political development, he said. "The government is committed to meet the target set in Nepal Tourism Year."



As of now around 59 operators have been registered at the ministry to provide home stay service in community level.



At the function, Secretary of Tourism Ministry Kishwor Thapa, Member Secretary of Taragau Development Committee Ranjan Sharma Khanal and Chief Executive Officer of NTB Prachanda Man Shrestha said home stay is an important tool to promote tourism and give maximum return to people.
