Home Minister Thapa initiates 'Clean, Healthy and Safe Bhaktapur’ campaign

BHAKTAPUR, Nov 22: A month-long 'Clean, Healthy and Safe Bhaktapur Campaign' has begun here from today. 


Launching the campaign by sweeping the road at Manohara bridge of Lokanthali this morning, Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa handed over the materials used for cleaning like brooms and gloves to campaigners. 


The materials used for cleaning were handed over to members of House of Representatives- Mahesh Basnet and Prem Suwal, lawmaker of Province no 3 Shashi Jung Thapa, Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi municipality Madan Sundar Shrestha, among other campaigners.

On the occasion, Minister Thapa said, "People have given responsibility to make prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali. Support and cooperation of all is necessary to fulfill this responsibility." 


Saying building a peaceful and safe Nepal was the need of the hour, he said a campaign to ensure prosperity and security to the people has also begun. 


The Home Minister said, "We are involved in a campaign to make Nepal safe. Country can be prosperous only if the country becomes safe. It is necessary to ban the alcohol for the security of the people as alcohol is one of the reasons behind road accidents and violence against women." 


Saying participation of the people was necessary as it was not possible to control violence against women and rape cases only through the effort of the government, police and the administration. 


Similarly, HoR member Basnet said that all should involved in making the six-lane road of Bhaktapur as well as area from Manohara bridge to Sanga of Kavre, the bordering of Bhaktapur district, along Araniko Highway clean, healthy and safe. 


Chief District officer, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, said that people's representatives, representatives of political parties, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and all bodies of the district and the organizations would stand together for the campaign. The campaign would start from 8:00 am every day till one month.
