KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Clean Up Nepal is all set to organize the fifth edition of annual nationwide cleanup campaign on September 16. According to the press statement released by Clean Up Nepal, the drive is a part of the 'Clean Up the World' global campaign.
Various well known personalities and organizations such as Manisha Koirala, Loonibha Tuladhar, Kutumba, Australian Ambassador to Nepal Peter Budd, Latika Maskey Pradhan, Sumana Shrestha, Rotaract, Scientology Volunteer Ministers, Nepali Youth for Climate Action, Let’s Do It World, Nepal Friendship Society and Blue Diamond Society, among others, are endorsing the campaign.
Ring Road cleanup campaign begins from Saturday
The event provides individuals, communities, and organizations a unified platform to clean streets, rivers and public spaces so as to improve their immediate environment through positive action and increased awareness. This year’s nationwide clean-up will focus on litter-free neighborhoods and waste segregation by households, according to the statement.
The annual drive is supported by Australian Embassy. The event started with 15,000 volunteers in 2013 and has since mobilized over 100,000 people to collect 520, 000 kilos of waste at 350 locations in 36 districts throughout Nepal.
Clean Up the World, one of the world’s largest community based environmental campaigns, engages an estimated 35 million volunteers in 130 countries each year.
