Home minister instructs IGP to take action against those who publicized Lamichhane’s custody photo

Home Minister Lekhak directed Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar to investigate the matter and bring the culprit to justice.

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed action against those who publicly released the alleged custody photo of Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is currently in the custody of the Kaski Police. Home Minister Lekhak has instructed that an investigation be conducted into the matter and that action be immediately taken against the responsible individuals.


The home minister’s secretariat said that on Thursday, Home Minister Lekhak directed Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar to investigate the matter and bring the culprit to justice.

The secretariat quoted the statement of the Home Minister "I have instructed the IGP to investigate this matter and take action against whoever is guilty. The police are investigating the issue related to the alleged photo in custody."


Similarly, Bishwa Adhikari, Senior Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Nepal Police said that the police have started the necessary investigation into the photo that has gone viral on social media.
