KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Himalaya Airlines has started Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu flight. The company started flying on this route from Thursday.
The airline's flight departed from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 8:40 AM for Lhasa with 136 passengers. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti also reached the TIA on the occasion of the launch of the flight.
Plight of air passengers over delayed flight schedule
The airplane will land at Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 12:00 AM local time. The journey duration is 1 hour 20 minutes. The airline said that it will fly Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu every Monday from January 1.
This is Himalaya Airlines' fifth flight destination to the Chinese city. It has regular flights to Beijing, Chongqing, Qingdao and Shanghai.
The company is committed to increasing the connectivity between the two countries and promoting bilateral relations. Bijay Shrestha, the vice president of the airline, said that the main objective of the company is to fly to 10 different tourist destinations in China and bring in one million tourists to Nepal annually.
