KATHMANDU, April 13: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that the country is facing an economic crisis because the politicians and black-marketeers have hidden banknotes at their homes.

Speaking at a public meeting organized by RPP, Parsa, in Birgunj on Tuesday, Chairman Lingden said that there is a shortage of banknotes in banks because leaders and black-marketeers have hidden them at their homes.

He asserted that they were hiding the money because of the answerability they owe to banks and financial institutions regarding the source if they are to deposit the money into formal financial channels. He claimed that this has caused an economic crisis in the country.

Chairman Lingden said that he and his party would turn banknotes hidden at homes into mere scraps of paper if the people helped it win the elections. He added that it was time for the voters to change their loyalty to parties and leaders to see development in the country.

He accused the major political parties of dragging the country to the brink of ruin.
