KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The hearing on the case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a minor, has been postponed again. This adjournment is attributed to various factors affecting the judicial proceedings at the District Court Kathmandu.
The postponement is primarily a result of ongoing changes within the judicial ranks, including judges on the verge of promotion, transfers, and leaves of absence due to the Teej festival. As of now, a specific date for the next hearing has not been determined.
A complaint against Lamichhane was filed on September 6 of the previous year, accusing him of rape. Subsequently, he was taken into custody at Tribhuvan International Airport on October 6, a month after the issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with the case.
