KATHMANDU, APRIL 21: The hearing on the government application against the Supreme Court stay order on the retirement of eight brigadier generals of Nepal Army continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, lawyers representing the brigadier generals took part in the hearing at the apex court.

Sitting Justices Anup Raj Sharma and Prem Sharma adjourned the hearing till Wednesday after the lawyers did not conclude their pleadings.

The controversy over the retirement began after the government did not extend the tenure of the generals in March. It further deepened after the Supreme Court stayed the government decision to pension off the army officers on March 24. Later, the government moved the court with the application seeking nullification of the stay order. The court will either continue the stay order or scrap it at the end of the ongoing hearing that is expected to conclude last by Thursday.
