Health ministry urges people to stay isolated for a week if infected with Covid-19

KATHMANDU, April 19: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged everyone to stay mandatorily in isolation for seven days if they are infected with Covid-19.


Joint spokesperson for the ministry, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari has requested everyone infected with Covid-19 to stay in mandatory isolation for seven days in case of fever and difficulty in breathing due to the coronavirus infection.

According to him, there is no need to stay in isolation if there are no symptoms, if the person has been in isolation for five days or more than five days, if the fever subsides without taking fever medicine within 24 hours. Even after staying in isolation for seven days, they have been asked not to come in contact with other people even if they come out on the eighth day. 


The ministry has asked those who are in isolation to stay in a separate room with plenty of air with a separate toilet and to wear a mask covering the nose, mouth and chin, and to properly manage the used masks and to wash their hands with soap and water from time to time. At present, the cases of infection of coronavirus are increasing daily. On Tuesday, 171 fresh cases of Covid-19 and two deaths were reported .
