He claimed that there is no alternative to resignation by the prime minister to save the country from sliding into a catastrophe. MPRF is a coalition partner in the Khanal-led government. Gupta asked the Maoist to take initiatives to reach understanding to form a national consensus government.

“We all need to utilize remaining nine days to form a national consensus government. This will help deliver peace and new constitution,” he further said.

He argued that Khanal-led government should act as a care taker government until a new government is formed.

Gupta said the government´s plan to extend the term of CA through two-third majority is nothing but a day-dream.
