The talks held with the government at Finance Ministry on Thursday failed to draw any conclusion on the University Teachers´ demand of increased salary and uniform allowance, said Association General Secretary Prem Raj Khaniya. [break]
The Association will continue with the bandh or strike tomorrow, he added.
Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, Education Minister Dinanath Sharma, Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota, Education Secretary Kishor Thapa, Chairperson of University Grant Commission Prof. Dr. Ganesh Man Gurung, Commission Member-Secretary Bhola Pokharel and TUTA office-bearers took part in the talks.
On the occasion, they discussed ways to make arrangements for providing increased salary and allowance but no consensus could be reached about the sources of funding in concrete.
The Association has been demanding to provide them with the increased amount of salary since last year.
Currently, there are 15,206 university teachers and employees in 60 constituent campuses and four research centres across the country.
