“The government is making every attempt to strike a broader political consensus prior to launching the budget. If that does not materialize, attempts will be made to reach an agreement exclusively on introduction of the budget,” Pun said after inaugurating a bridge over Madi River that connects Libang in Rolpa district with 22 village development committees located in the southwest of the district. “In case both the attempts fail, we will call on the president to put a seal on the full-fledged budget the government has prepared on its own.”
Pun, a native of Rolpa, tried to uplift the spirits of Rolpalis saying the upcoming budget will acknowledge the contribution made by the people of the district during Maoist-led “People´s War”.
“The district has played a leading role during the people´s war. The budget will acknowledge this,” he said.
He also said chances of reviving the dissolved constituent assembly were slim and election would be held by mid-May. “Since people are judges, the polls will decide whether the country should go for federalism,” he said.
Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi, who accompanied Pun to Rolpa, said the government would launch the budget at any cost.
