KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sher Bahadur Kunwar has said that the government should be able to create jobs for Nepali citizens in their own country.
Addressing the 19th anniversary ceremony of Nepal FM Network on Sunday, Minister Kunwar said that the government should be able to create jobs for Nepali citizens in the country and prevent them from migrating abroad.
He said that the country has not been able to create enough jobs and Nepali workers are not attracted to the places where jobs have been created. Minister Kunwar said that there are more foreigners than Nepali workers working in companies in Nepal, and the government has been trying to arrange employment for Nepali workers in Nepal recently.
He said that in the last fiscal year alone, 630,000 people went abroad with work permits. He mentioned that if there is any problem for those who go abroad to work secretly and on a visit visa, they will not get the services and facilities provided by the state.
Minister Kunwar said that the workers who go to work abroad on a visit visa could not be regulated. He said that according to the data of the last three years, 4.6 million Nepali citizens went abroad. He said that there is a need to be serious about controlling this as almost half of Nepal's population has gone abroad for employment.
