KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The government has sought a clarification from Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). 


Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka sought a clarification from MD Ghising. Sources said the clarification was sought amid preparations of Minister Khadka to oust him from office.

Minister Khadka instructed MD Ghising to provide a clarification regarding the details and descriptions presented before the NEA’s Board of Directors (BoD) and the decisions made by the Board regarding dedicated feeders and trunk lines. The government has also asked Ghising to submit the details of the rights delegated by him over the last four years.


Similarly, the government has asked Ghising to submit four years of financial details of the NEA’s  subsidiary company, the details of the head of the central store for the last five years, the additional statement of arrears and the foreign trips details of the members of the Board in the last four years, among others.


The NEA’s BoD meeting was called for Wednesday morning to discuss the clarification sought by the government. The meeting was scheduled for 11 AM for which a correspondence was sent at 9:30 PM on Tuesday. However, the Board meeting could not take place due to lack of  quorum.
