KATHMANDU, MAY 1: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has maintained that the government’s remarks that it is not able to manage beds in hospitals for COVID-19 patients is shameful and irresponsible.

The statement of the NC comes a day after the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in a press statement said that the government is unable to manage beds for COVID-19 patients as the hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley and other cities are already overwhelmed with rising numbers of COVID-19 patients.

The NC has alleged that the Oli-led government had wasted time in arousing intra-party conflict, dissolving parliament and preparing for the elections at the time when the country should have prepared for tackling the second wave of COVID-19.

NC has also appealed to the government to increase the number of beds, ventilators, oxygen plants and cylinders in the country to fight against the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

The party also suggested the government work together with the private sector, international communities, NGOs and INGOs and other political parties to fight against the pandemic.
