KATHMANDU, April 24: The government has expressed its readiness to address the legitimate demands of teachers and has urged them to participate in educational activities.
On Wednesday, while announcing the decisions of the Cabinet at Singha Durbar, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung stated that teachers should help protect the future of students by halting their protests.

“The government is ready to address the legitimate demands of teachers, but if educational activities do not proceed on time, the future of students will be at risk,” Minister Gurung said. The Cabinet meeting has made several important decisions. It was decided to form a high-level Governance Reform Commission under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. Additionally, a decision was made to provide a relief of Rs 1 million each to the families of Sabin Maharjan and Suresh Rajak, who lost their lives in the Tinkune incident on March 28.
The meeting also decided to amend the organizational structure and staffing of the Supreme Court and subordinate bodies, the foreign aid mobilization policy, and the approval of the Public Procurement (14th Amendment) Rules, 2082.
Meanwhile, Minister Gurung said that the process of appointing a new Nepal Rastra Bank governor would proceed once Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba returns to Nepal. He said that the government has not received any information regarding Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai's resignation.
