Govt provides Rs 3b to procure NA choppers

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The government on Friday decided to provide Rs 3 billion to the Nepal Army (NA) to procure two 30-seater MI-17 helicopters.



A cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar took this decision. The meeting has also decided to form a committee to look into the procurement process, said Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav. [break]



According to Yadav, the cabinet also appointed Mahesh Kumar Dahal as the Consul in Hong Kong. Likewise, Shiva Kumar Patel and Sunil Kumar Jha have been appointed as General Managers of Udayapur Cement Factory and Hetauda Cement Factory, respectively.



The cabinet meeting also decided to provide Rs 50 million to Poor Citizens´ Welfare Fund, Rs 400,000 to Marginalized Oppressed and Dalit Welfare Development Committee and Rs 449,000 to the office bearers of Dalit Commission. The meeting also decided to release Rs 5 million to Film Development Fund.



Likewise, the cabinet also renamed Sagarmatha Hospital as Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital in memory of late Sadbhawana Party leader Gajendra Narayan Singh.



Likewise, the cabinet meeting also decided to accept Rs 5.95 billion in loan extended by the European Investment Bank for the West Seti Hydropower Project and release 66 prisoners, who have already served more than 60% of their jail term.
