District heads of the government offices have started leaving the office, stating that they have been summoned by the departments, ministries and the regional offices to attend meeting, seminars or conferences. [break]
Ten political parties including the major ones the UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML on Monday held a press conference to voice their dissatisfaction over the trend of the civil servants to leave the office long before the holiday.
The politicians stated that the absence of the government officials in the district also hampers development activities. Some of them also alleged that the Local Development Officer and a few engineers had left the district to impede investigation into irregularities amounting to millions of rupees.
Chief District Officer, Balabhadra Giri, informed that LDO and other staffers left the district citing that concerned ministry had sent them on deputation. “They have informed that they would return to work after attending a seminar. I hope they would return soon,” said Giri.
Acting LDO Janak Bahadur Malla informed that the works regarding financial transaction in the District Development Office has been halted after LDO Bharat Gautam left the district.
Heads of District Health Office, Agriculture Development Office, District Forest Office, District Office of Women and Children, Veterinary Office, District Education Office have already left the district.
