Govt head Regmi, four-party leaders disscuss new polls

KATHMANDU, April 5: Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi and top leaders of the four major political parties met at the prime ministerial residence in Baluwatar on Friday morning.



The meeting dwelt on latest developments regarding holding of new elections and ways to take dissident political parties into confidence to ensure their participation in the elections. [break]



Bimal Gautam, press advisor to the interim election council chairman, said the meeting discussed ways to make atmosphere conducive to the new elections, amending necessary election regulations taking note of feedbacks received on the new electoral laws proposed by the Election Commission.



UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and United Democratic Madhesi Front leader Raj Kishor Yadav were present in the meeting.
