Govt has prioritized cooperative issues: Home Minister Lekhak

KATHMANDU, July 29: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the government has attached high priority to the issues of cooperatives.

At a meeting of the High-Level Investigation Committee tasked with identifying problematic cooperatives held in the building of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Singha Durbar on Monday morning, Home Minister Lekhak said that work is being carried out to arrest those who have embezzled and misappropriated the funds of cooperatives.

Lekhak also said that the Home Administration will facilitate the statements of those arrested individuals who are imprisoned on charges of misappropriation of cooperative savings funds.

The Committee has drawn the attention of the Home Minister to expedite the arrest of those accused of misappropriation and embezzlement of cooperative funds, who are currently absconding within the country and abroad.

Similarly, Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, Coordinator of the parliamentary investigation special committee has urged to facilitate the statements of those individuals who are currently imprisoned in connection with cooperatives cases.

Likewise, Lekhak said that the Parliamentary investigation special committee on misuse of cooperatives savings will serve as a guide for the government.

He said, "The government has prioritized addressing the issue of cooperatives. I believe that the parliamentary investigation special committee on the misappropriation of cooperative savings funds will serve as a guide for the government."

Home Minister Lekhak expressed his commitment that the government will implement the Committee's directives.

In the meeting, Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and Inspector General of Police, Basanta Kunwar, also participated.
