Govt cautions against using dietary supplement being sold rampantly in domestic market

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The government has cautioned people not to use the dietary supplement without consulting physicians.

Issuing a public notice, the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) has warned people in general not to consume Garcinia Cambogia, a product being publicized as a dietary supplement. The DFTQC in this regard has clarified that the product has not been licensed by the department.

“The product is being sold with a fake licensed identity of GDFTQC NO 02-20-066-19-006,” reads the notice issued by the DFTQC. The product is reported to have been produced by Nano Food Nepal Pvt Ltd, while it is being marketed by GTM Herbal Pvt Ltd, New Road 32, Kathmandu. 

The product is reportedly being marketed via online platforms The DFTQC has further cautioned that a number of people are found to have fallen ill after its consumption.
