Govt and Chand-led CPN reach three-point agreement, the underground outfit to renounce violence to advance its political goals

KATHMANDU, March 4: The government and the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal have reached a three-point agreement.


As per the agreement reached between the two sides, the Chand-led CPN which was carrying out various violent activities has agreed to renounce violence and pursue peaceful politics to advance its political objectives.

The two sides have agreed to publicize the details of the agreement reached amidst a special function to be held on Friday 2PM in the capital. The function will be addressed by Prime Minister K P Oli and CPN's General Secretary Netra Biram Chand 'Biplab'. 


According to a joint press statement issued by government's talks team chief Ram Bahadur Thapa and CPN's Spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma 'Prakanda', the CPN has agreed to advance its political demands through negotiations and carry out its political activities in a peaceful manner. The agreement also includes lifting the ban imposed on CPN, release all prisoners of faith and withdraw cases filed against CPN leaders and cadres.
