KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The government is mulling over declaring a state of emergency in the country, sources said.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has already briefed about his decision to announce the state of emergency to President Bidya Devi Bhandari, sources familiar with the development said.
Earlier today morning, an emergency meeting of the Cabinet decided to recommend to President Bhandari to dissolve parliament.
An emergency Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar decided to recommend to President Bhandari to dissolve parliament.
Oli's move is likely to be challenged in the court as the constitution does not have a provision for the dissolution of parliament, according to constitutional experts.
