Golden Gate, CCRC in semis

KATHMANDU, June 25: Golden Gate and CCRC advanced into the semifinals of the Fourth Wai-Wai Vice Chancellor Cup T20 Cricket Tournament at the TU Cricket Grounds in Kirtipur on Friday.



Golden Gate defeated Himalayan White house by 36 runs to register second victory while CCRC enjoyed walkover from Nepal Commerce Campus to find a place in the last four. [break]



Being invited to bat first, Dipendra Chaudhary who was later adjudged man-of-the-match hit 63 runs as Golden Gate made 192/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Following the run chase, White House fell short by 36 runs as they managed to score only 156/5.



Chaudhary hit three sixes and five fences in 41 deliveries to steer the team toward a mammoth total. Sanjay Shrestha smashed 45 off 31 and Paras Khadka struck 40 off 26 for Golden Gate. Rom Shrestha was unbeaten on 21. Sharad Vesawkar claimed two wickets of Golden Gate.



Despite Subash Khakurel´s half century off 39 deliveries, White House were unable to achieve the target. Rahul Chand was unbeaten on 26 while Dipesh Khatri scored 21 runs and Vesawkar contributed 18 runs. Raju Basnyat hauled two wickets of White House.



On Saturday, Golden Gate will take on Classic College in the first semifinal match and CCRC will play against TU in another.
