KATHMANDU, March 25: Golden Gate International College and Bishal Milan Kendra have secured their playoff places in the ongoing first Kwiks Men’s Basketball League on Saturday. Golden Gate beat Kirtipur Basketball Club 81-65, while Milan Kendra saw off Xavier International College 84-77 on the same day. In the first match, Golden Gate won with a slim margin score of 18-16 in the first quarter, but played wonderfully in the second with a 24-10 win. It lost the third quarter 13-14, but fought back to win the fourth 26-25 and secure its playoff berth. Bikram Dangol scored the highest 19 for the winning team. In the second match, Milan Kendra and Xavier played a 24-24 draw in the first quarter, but won the second 23-16. It lost the third quarter 16-17, but won the fourth 21-20. The playoff lineup of the tournament has been completed. The top four teams will take part in the playoff. The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club is at the top with 36 points from 12 matches, Golden Gate is second with 27 from 13, Milan Kendra is third with the 27 as well, while Himalayan Hounds has 24 and is fourth.
