KATHMANDU, Sept 11: It’s only been six months since the launch of Ghanta Home Productions. In a short span of time, the YouTube-based entertainment channel has garnered viewers’ appreciation in a great number. The company’s forte: it produces bone-tickling memes.

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: It’s only been six months since the launch of Ghanta Home Productions. In a short span of time, the YouTube-based entertainment channel has garnered viewers’ appreciation in a great number. The company’s forte: it produces bone-tickling memes. Needless to say, producing any content requires utter dedication in post-production tasks, including audio and video syncing, and editing. However, 33-year-old Kiran Shrestha is solely plentiful to ensure top-notch technicality. His memes and spoof videos, indicated toward Nepali political figures and Indian actors, have taken the social media by storm, consequently aiding to his quick shot to fame. 


“The popularity was least expected, especially during the initial phase. My best motive was to encourage creativity, and entertain viewers at the same time,” said Shrestha. “After my first video, ‘Priya Prachanda Oli- The Love Triangle’ went viral, it helped raise my zeal to keep up with the expectation that I had received. The amount of appreciation and support from viewers further instigated me to work in a more creative pace,” added Shrestha.



Anushka Sharma accredited his work by confirming the Mario meme as her favorite.

He initially started by editing videos for Nepali musicians, by collaborated with various video-editors until he was confident enough to go solo. “I have always found videos to be a powerful source of entertainment. However, it was quite challenging to leave a mark as a video editor then. At present, the rise in the digital culture and media has provided boundless opportunities for content producers.”


Ghanta Home Productions started with a general idea of spreading laughter lacing together passion and creativity. “I believe entertainment is an inescapable part of life. Carrying a happy-go-lucky persona, I wanted to spare some personal time to share laughter among the viewers. Positive comments from diverse viewers of Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh has kept me motivated,” he shared.


From memes and spoof videos of Nepali political figures to Indian actors, many of his works, including ‘Daar Kanda’, ‘FIFA Express’, ‘Anushka Sharma to Next Level’, and ‘Alia and Ranbir Thik Hai’ have collected acclamation from both national and international viewers. Moreover, Indian actor Anushka Sharma accredited his work by confirming the Mario meme as her favorite. Although the videos created are well received, people at times inquire about the feeble numbers of views and subscribers. “I believe it is because people download the videos from my channels and use them (without consent),” Shrestha said.


Though he is better known for his comic works, he has also directed thriller and horror films. Viewers can also find Shrestha in several Nepali music videos. However, it was traversing through his diverse interests that he acknowledged his true passion for working behind the camera. “Gaining a range of experience in different professions is worthwhile. I have a myriad of projects and also plan to make a feature film,” he shared.


Shrestha further added, “Much to my experience, I have realized that Nepali celebrities can hardly ingest memes and hilarity carried on them. I hope to apply and broaden my skills on them and take such works in amusing heights.”
