On Friday, writing a Facebook status, she announced that she will give her candidacy as an independent candidate. She said, "I don't know whether I made the right decision. I will always stand for nation and nationality. I am coming among the people as an independent candidate with the country as my top priority. I need your support.”

Earlier, she was trying to become a candidate from Dang-1 from CPN-UML. Ganga announced that she would be an independent candidate after learning that UML would field Shanta Chaudhary, a member of the Politburo and the parliamentary party whip, from that constituency.
Chaudhury, who was a proportional member of the Tharuhat Party in the first and second Constituent Assembly, became a proportional member of parliament in 2074 BS from UML.
