KATHMANDU, June 2: The local administration in Kathmandu has remanded nine businessmen who were arrested on the charge of gambling for five days into police custody.
On Monday evening, a team of police from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbarmarg, arrested the gamblers from Gangor Boutique Hotel in Kamaladi.
Acting on a tip-off that businessmen from several groups were involved in gambling even during the lockdown period, police arrested them late Monday evening.

The arrested businessmen charged with gambling include Bimal Khetan, Ram Chandra Sanghai, Purushottam Agrawal, Bimal Ahuja, Suresh Kumar Agrawal, Gobinda Ram Sariya, Ashok Kumar Agrawal and Nanda Kishor Sharma.
Police have also arrested the owner of the Hotel Mikki Jogai, who is an Indian national, in connection with the incident.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, police have seized Rs 277,000 in cash and 79 units of coins with the denominations of Rs 5, 50 and 100 from those arrested gamblers.
Police have also sealed the room where “the hotel owner was operating the gambling business” and seized the vehicles used by the gamblers.
