KATHMANDU, July 2: Pratik Thapa, the son of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, has been remanded in custody for investigation in the case related to the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
Sources at the District Police Range Kathmandu said that the Kathmandu District Court issued the order on Tuesday.
Thapa was arrested by the CIB team on June 28 from Kapan. He was absconding after an arrest warrant was issued against him in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
Police investigation revealed that Thapa played the role of a middleman in the case. Thapa allegedly took money from the victims promising to send them overseas in the guise of Bhutanese refugee.
