Bhusal believes that the film will be as loved as the prequel 'Hostel' was. In fact, if the buzz in social media is to be believed, people are eagerly waiting for August 21."Some dialogues are already very popular. This is a film for young people. It's guaranteed to make people laugh. We have a contemporary story that will appeal to our viewers," he says.
'Hostel Returns' features a new and young cast of actors such as Mohammad Nazir Hussain, Sushil Shrestha, Abhaya Baral, Sushil Sitaula, Sashi Shrestha, and Swasthima Khadka.
Set in an engineering college in Butwal, the film brings together students from different parts of the country.
"I wanted it to be as real as possible. So we have someone from Dhangadi, one student from Jhapa, the next one from Kathmandu, and so on. I took experiences from my own life and also talked to many other friends who come from engineering backgrounds and have lived in hostels," Bhusal says.
With the majority of the cast being new to the screen, the crew put them through five months of acting workshop. Bhusal elaborates, "We also did rehearsals for a couple of scenes initially so they knew acting in front of a camera is not continuous, but they have to carry on the emotion where they left off. With the exception of one actor, no one had experienced hostel life. So we asked them to spend a week in one so they know what it's like and how people behave there. Then after a week, they came back and we asked them to put their thoughts and experiences in paper and we also included that in the final script."
The cast was also called by their screen names to make them truly identify with their characters. "Even after a couple of months after the shooting ended, we were still calling them by their screen names," Bhusal says.
They even had to learn the dialect of the place their characters were from so that everything was as authentic as possible.
The film's music has been composed by Swapnil Sharma who also worked on the lyrics. The film will also be screened in Sydney, Australia on August 15 and 16.
