Four including three from the same family murdered, one arrested

Five-member investigation committee formed under SSP Rathore

KATHMANDU, Sept 17 : In a shocking incident, four people, including three from the same family, were killed on Friday night in Gairigaun, Tinkune of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32. The lifeless bodies of two men and two women were discovered within the premises of Divya Saw Mill located in Tinkune at around 11:55 PM on Friday. There were deep injuries caused by sharp weapons in different parts of their bodies.

The victims have been identified as 56-year-old Kumar Bhujel, who was employed as a security guard at the sawmill; his wife, 52-year-old Ambika Bhujel; his mother, Subhadra Bhujel, 76; and 20-year-old Nabin Rai, who originally hails from Belbari in Morang district.

According to the police, a 28-year-old suspect, Dipendra Rai, a local resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, Tinkune, has been taken into custody for interrogation. The arrested had reached the police station to inform them about the murder. The police arrested him after noticing blood on his shoes and clothes.

Additional Inspector General of Police Deepak Thapa said that police personnel were strategically deployed at all key entry points within the Kathmandu metropolitan city area on Saturday as part of their investigative efforts.

A police team, accompanied by a skilled canine, initiated an investigation on Saturday. A joint team of police from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, and the District Police Range Kathmandu is investigating the case.

The Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari said a dedicated five-member investigative committee has been established to find those involved in the heinous mass murder. SSP Dineshraj Mainali, the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari, announced the decision to investigate the tragic incident. He disclosed that SSP Somendra Singh Rathore, the chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Kathmandu, would lead the five-member investigative team.

The investigative committee comprises highly experienced officers, including DSP Hari Khatiwada from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, DSP Subash Khadka from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, DSP Surakshya KC from the Crime Investigation Office, and Inspector Birendra KC from the Baneshwar Police Circle.

It has been learnt that Dibya Saw Mill is operated by Bal Krishna Shiwakoti, a resident of Dolakha, Kalinchowk. He currently resides in Gaushala.
