KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Former Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Anirudra Yadav has been arrested on charges of rape. SI Yadav is accused of raping a girl on January 2. He allegedly entered the victim's room at around 8 PM and committed the crime while her mother was absent. Kathmandu Police Range has taken Yadav into custody.
According to the victim, Yadav knocked on the door, requesting water. Subsequently, he entered the room, sat down, and did not leave for a long time. "He opened the door as he shared the room in the same apartment. He did not leave the room. After some time, he started touching her and threatened to disfigure her and her mother by splashing acid," the victim said in her complaint.
Break taboos to reinstate rape victims
Yadav allegedly used force when she tried to retaliate against his advances. The victim reported that he threatened to harm her family if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Yadav assaulted her again the next day while pointing a gun at her, according to the victim.
Yadav has refuted the crime before the government attorney. He stated that since he is in a relationship with the victim's mother, he considers the victim as his own daughter.
After the investigation, police have submitted the report, including the results of the victim's health examination, to the District Attorney's Office, Kathmandu. The evidence suggests that he committed the crime. The District Attorney's Office has filed a case of sexual assault in Kathmandu District Court.
Accused Yadav resigned from the post on December 17, 2019. Currently, he is employed as a security guard in a private company.
