Former Minister Shrestha found guilty of illegitimate wealth accumulation

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Former Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha has been convicted of amassing wealth through unlawful means. This verdict was delivered by a joint bench comprising special court judges Yamuna Bhattarai and Khushi Prasad Tharu.

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Former Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha has been convicted of amassing wealth through unlawful means. This verdict was delivered by a joint bench comprising special court judges Yamuna Bhattarai and Khushi Prasad Tharu.


The case against Shrestha, his wife, and son was initially filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The CIAA asserted that Shrestha had acquired a substantial sum of Rs 44.45 million without any legitimate sources of income.

Shrestha, who commenced his career in government service in 2026 BS, retired in 2064 BS. He also held the position of a former secretary and served as a minister in the election government led by Khilraj Regmi in 2070 BS.
