KATHMANDU, June 20: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken legal action against Madhukar Prasad Rajbhandari, a former director general of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation, for allegedly accumulating wealth from undisclosed sources. A case has been filed against Rajbhandari at the Special Court in Kathmandu.

The anti-corruption body revealed that Rajbhandari's financial records indicated the disclosure of sources amounting to Rs 38.55 million during the aforementioned period. However, a substantial sum of Rs 35.63 million remains unaccounted for, with no disclosure of its origin. The charge-sheet emphasizes that Rajbhandari, during his tenure as a government official, allegedly acquired wealth through illicit means and lived a lavish life without providing reasonable justification.
