JANAKPUR, Aug 12: Former mayor of Janakpurdham Krishna Giri has died of coronavirus in the capital Tuesday midnight.
Giri breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Nepal Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur. Earlier, he tested positive for COVID-19. He was 73.

Giri was airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment after he complained of breathing difficulties some three weeks ago. However, he had also several other health complications.
He was also the owner of Janakpur-based Rama Hotel. He had served as the mayor of Janakpurdham in the late 1980s.
Additionally, he also became chairperson of the Family Planning Association of Nepal, Janakpur branch, for 25 years. Giri was also a mahasamiti member of the Nepali Congress. He is survived by two sons and wife.
