Food expo recorded Rs 2 million in transactions: DoTQC

KATHMANDU, April 3: A food expo organized by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DoTQC) in Kathmandu ended on Saturday recording a transactions worth Rs two million, the department said.

KATHMANDU, April 3: A food expo organized by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DoTQC) in Kathmandu ended on Saturday recording a transactions worth Rs two million, the department said.


According to the organizers, the two-day fair aimed at promoting high-protein food products produced in Nepal. The expo showcased different types of foods produced in the country through 80 stalls.

“Fifteen stalls showcased delicacies from different ethnic communities while 20 stalls provided information on different foods.  The expo also showcased food products manufactured by different factories, and equipment, chemicals and machinery used during food processing,” Madan Chapagain, deputy spokesperson at DoTQC, said.


According to Chapagain, the expo attracted more than 60,000 visitors and made the people realize the importance of quality food.


“Today, many people are consuming junk food. People visiting the expo have realized the real value of quality and high-protein food,” he added.


DFTQC organized similar expos in Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Lamjung and Kathmandu in the previous fiscal year. During the current fiscal year, it says it held similar expos in Biratnagar, Hetauda, Gaidakot, Nepalgunj and Kailali.
