Adhikari, the editor and publisher of the local Loktantra Dainik, was manhandled in front of the Bharatpur Municipality building. District committee of Nepali Congress had called a general strike in Chitwan on Wednesday.
FNJ added that such an act carried out by a responsible party towards a journalist on duty is against the freedom of press.
FNJ has demanded compensation for Adhikari whose motorcycle was vandalized.
